Public Trap Shooting

Come hone your trap shooting skills at the Florence Trap Shooting Range! All shooters much bring their own gun and ammo, as well as their own eye and ear protection. Voice-activated releases are available, and all shooting will be supervised by a Certified Range Safety Officer. The cost to shoot will be $5 for a round of 25 targets. 

Iowa DNR Hunter Education Field Day Course

There will be a Hunter Education Field Day at the Hanson Nature Center on October 11th, from 8:00 AM until noon. Hunter education is a mandatory program that is designed to introduce students to several life-long skills that are important to many different types of outdoor recreational opportunities. The course teaches students basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, the basics of wildlife management, hunting laws and firearm/archery safety. Hunter education also stresses the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.

Iowa law requires that anyone born after January 1, 1972 must be certified in hunter education before they are eligible to purchase an Iowa hunting license. Pumpkins and Prairies Fall Fest

Come join us for an afternoon of fall fun at the nature center and the Corner Pumpkin Patch up the road! There will be hayrack rides betwen the nature center and the pumpkin patch, pumpkin picking, crafts, games, chainsaw carving, food, and more. Best of all, there's no charge to enter!
