WINNEBAGO COUNTY JAIL
The Winnebago County Jail opened in 1975 when the “old” Forest City Hospital was converted to house several county departments, including the jail. A new facility is scheduled to open in the spring of 2017.

Any letter without a return address will be considered non-deliverable and will be returned to the post office. Envelopes with graffiti, written or picture style, anywhere on the envelope will be returned to the post office.
Inmate visitation is on Monday from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. All visitors must pre-register for visitation. Pre-register by calling 641-585-3632 between 9 am and 3 pm on the Saturday or Sunday directly prior to visitation day. Visitors must be 18 years of age and be pre-approved by the inmate. The Winnebago County Jail reserves the right to refuse visitor access.
A link to the visitation rules and registration form is located below. To expedite the visitation process, this form can be printed, fill out, and brought to the jail at visitation. Paper copies are also available at the jail. The form must be filled out prior to visiting an inmate.
An inmate may request to have personal property released to a specific person that is not incarcerated. The request must come from the inmate. An inmate may not received personal property once incarcerated, except an inmate may receive cash for commissary and medically prescribed medications which can be verified. Inmates may also receive new (unopened) package of boxer shorts (underwear).
