Critter Camp--Herps

We are working with NIACC to offer this fun day camp for kids going into grades 1-5! Tuesday's Herps session will help kids learn just how cool reptiles and amphibians are by actually seeing some live critters up close and personal! Critter Camp--Hiking/Geocaching

We are working with NIACC to offer this fun day camp for kids going into grades 1-5! Wednesday's Hiking & Geocaching session will get kids out on the trails, observing the outdoors, while doing a little geocaching at the same time. Critter Camp--Critter Nests

We are working with NIACC to offer this fun day camp for kids going into grades 1-5! Thursday's Critter Nests session will help kids learn about where animals live and why. Each family will then get to build their own bird nesting box to take hoime with them! The cost for the week-long Critter Camp is only $9.00. Critter Camp--Pond Critters

We are working with NIACC to offer this fun day camp for kids going into grades 1-5! We will finish up Critter Camp with a perennial favorite--Pond Critters! The kids will get to explore the pond and catch whatever they can--frogs, bugs, snails, whatever! The cost for the week-long Critter Camp is only $9.00. Hanson Nature Center Overnight Campout

Get into the full swing of summer with an overnight campout at Winnebago County's Hanson Nature Center! Kids going into 3rd-5th grades will enjoy campfire cooking, stargazing, a night hike, popcorn, a movie, and a cozy sleepover. They'll need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and an overnight bag, but we'll provide the fun!

This program is jointly sponsored with NIACC, and registration is through them. People can register online here (search for "Overnight" in the top right corner), or call 641-422-4358. The cost for the campout is $15/child. Summer Wildflower Walk

Meet at the Thorpe Park shelter house for a leisurely walk around the park, learning about the summer wildflowers blooming there. We will see flowers such as bee balm, goldenrod, black-eyed susans, and other colorful natives!

Summer Stargazing

Join the WCCB for an informal tour of the summer nighttime sky! We will observe some of the more common summer constellations such as Scorpius the Scorpion, Lyra the Lyre, Aquilla the Eagle, and Cygnus the Swan. We will also take a look at the Big and Little Dippers, as well as the stars that make up all those constellations, and learn interesting facts about each of them! 

The Amazing Monarch Migration

Monarch butterflies are some of the most amazing insects on Earth! Come find out why and also help us tag Monarch butterflies for research. Although we should have a few Monarchs to tag, attendees are also welcome to bring their own to tag and release.
