NOTICE: Driveway Work in County Right-of-Way
Effective June 1, 2025, all driveway work within the Winnebago County right-of-way must be completed by a pre-approved contractor.
While the County has long focused on flexibility and accommodation, the burden on taxpayers has become too great. Permits issued directly to tenants and landowners have too often resulted in delayed timelines, poor communication, and failure to meet safety and construction standards.
This new policy is intended to ensure driveways are built or modified safely, efficiently, and with minimal oversight from County staff.
A list of approved contractors—based on the current drainage district contractor list—will be posted on the County website. Contractors may be added or removed by the County Engineer based on compliance with construction standards, communication, and timeliness.
