General Assistance/Relief
Purpose:
The purpose of the Winnebago County General Assistance/Relief Program is to provide aid and assistance to Winnebago County residents who are determined to be needy or poor and who need immediate assistance not obtainable from any other source.
General Assistance assists people who need help with rent, utilities, and funeral services. The assistance program is designed to provide short-term emergency type assistance to persons lacking the resources to meet basic needs for energy and shelter. It is not intended to provided on-going or long-term aid to any individual and/or family.
