Executive Director

The Executive Director oversees the activities of a multi-faceted conservation program that includes management of the new Hanson Nature Center, environmental education and roadside management programs, and administrative and maintenance duties related to the management of over 3,600 acres of parks and outdoor recreation areas, including both river and hiking trails.

Job Description

The Winnebago CCB is seeking a proven leader to serve as the Executive Director to the Board, overseeing the activities of a multi-faceted conservation program that includes management of the new Hanson Nature Center, environmental education and roadside management programs, and administrative and maintenance duties related to the management of over 3,600 acres of parks and outdoor recreation, including river and hiking trails. He/she is responsible for supervising the day-to-day department management, including all other employees (3 currently), budgeting, equipment procurement, property acquisition, and habitat development and construction projects. He/she coordinates, plans, and administers conservation and park recreation programs.  The Executive Director, along with the Board, is responsible for developing the strategic plan. The Executive Director implements board policies, and interacts with a variety of local and regional officials and the general public. The Executive Director must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, mathematical skills, and be able to both manage and lead multiple projects simultaneously.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduated from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in the natural resources or biological sciences field. A minimum of five years of work-related experience that provides the skills and abilities necessary to perform essential job duties, including personnel supervision and computer competencies. Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Iowa driver’s license.  Must possess Category 1A and 6 herbicide applicator license and S-130/190 Wildland Fire certification (or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire).

REQUIREMENTS: Interview candidates will be required to undergo background checks in reference to driving and criminal history.

SALARY RANGE: $70,000 - $80,000 depending upon qualifications.

BENEFIT PACKAGE: IPERS, Health, Dental and Life Insurance, paid vacation and sick leave.
